THE CRUISING LIFE – NINETEENTH CRUISE –  CELEBRITY EDGE

Usually we choose cruise based on itinerary. But cruise #18 was booked not because of where the ship was going but because of the ship – the Celebrity Edge. The Celebrity Edge was a brand new ship, in fact it was still being built when we signed up for this cruise. We would not be on the maiden voyage but when we got on in mid-April of 2019 the Edge had only been sailing for 4 months.

We would board the Edge in Ft Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida and travel a Western Caribbean itinerary making port calls in Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Costa Maya (Mahahual), before returning to Ft Lauderdale. As often happens with new ships there was a lot of “hoop-la” and new inovations about the Edge. One of the most talked about additions was the “Magic Carpet” which could be seen on the starboard side of the ship and would rise and descend several decks. The “Magic Carpet” would serve different functions, sometimes serving as a lounge and sometimes as a point of debarkation when tenders would be used.

Before I show you some of the port calls we made, here are some photos from around the Edge.
