Our next cruise was actually two cruises! Yes, cruise #5 and cruise #6 were “Back-to-Back”. We booked a 10-night Eastern Caribbean cruise and a 11-night Southern Caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas. What this means is that at the end of the first cruise we would just stay onboard and get underway again that same afternoon on our second cruise. And if you are a math whiz you already figured out that this is the same as a 21-night cruise! Between the two itineraries there was only one duplicate port call and that was in St. John’s Antigua.
Legend of the Seas is now the Marella Discovery 2 after being part of the Thomson Cruises for a short time. It has a gross tonnage of 69 GT and can carry a little over 2,000 passengers. As Legend of the Seas it was the most-travelled ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet.
Our first night aboard we ate supper at one of the specialty restaurants but the second night we went to the MDR. We were seated at a 8-top and were quickly joined with three other couples who obviously knew each other. Turns out that two of these couples were doing the Back-to-Back also! We quickly became good friends and even shared some shore excursions together.
As you will see in upcoming posts, our itinerary was:
- St. Thomas
- St. Kitts
- St. Maarten
- Turn around in Ft Lauderdale
- St. Lucia
Here are some images from around the Legend of the Seas. We carried away lots of good memories.
